Untapped with Dave snowden and cijaye depradine
WATCH THE EPISODE:
What will you learn about?
Blessed and honored to host this session with my mentor in all things Complexity related, Dave Snowden definitely delivered a wealth of genius for every leader to hear.
In this episode Dave and I explore his current work with the Cynefin Centre, Crisis Management, Mass Sense Making and the new leadership skills required to better support organizations in the present moment and through their innovation / evolution of tomorrows strategies. He also speaks about upcoming publications and books.
We explore a vast array of topics including, inattentional blindness, maverick thinking, outliers and their untapped value to their organizations, how best to leverage linkages and entanglement as a means to sense make.
We also explored the differences between nudging the system, incremental change, when to be Agile and when to be waterfall. Dave provides a significant eye opener in this section for those organizations that think the entire organization must be Agile; where in fact, you need to understand the value and methods of being Agile – and use them only when called for – as opposed to all day / every day as a way of doing business. In closing, Dave also speaks about the skills required to be a more efficient Organizational Development professional – as well as a Consultant (internally or externally). There are so many wonderful nuggets of wisdom in this episode. Please leave comments if you have taken anything away from it.
Who is this for?
Anyone who considers themselves a leader, a organizational development professional, consultant, facilitator, coach, mentor and maverick <- This is FOR YOU!
Who is Dave Snowden?
Where can you find the resources Dave mentioned?
Truth be told, Dave did not get into too many specific resources (outside of the Invisible Gorilla by Christopher Chabris) .
Instead Dave encouraged listeners to expand their own knowledge base in areas that are new and novel to them. Ones that will help them get a better sense of the world, how it works and how people work in the world. Ones that will help develop curiosity and inquiry.
This includes subject areas such as science, physics, philosophy, ethnography, anthropology, arts, humanities, psychology, social networks, ecosystems etc.
The body of knowledge one can gain by combining all of these is going to help build the adaptive capacity and resilience you need to be a well rounded and extremely effective leader.
At Untapped Goldmines, the intention is to help organizations and their leaders explore the opportunities they are not paying enough attention to. If you appreciate the content and want to be informed of all that we are doing – please consider joining our mail list.
